Lets Meet Again (Jake/Aurie)

Jake checked his watch again, waiting. She was supposed to be here. A family friend, a girl that he's had a crush on for ages.

Today, he would finally tell her.

Idiot he said. He couldn't just tell her.

Yes he could.

No he couldn't.

YEs. he could.

Aurelie nearly raced into Jake. "Jake!" she cried. "You stupid idiot! Where were you?" She smiled. "Been looking for you for ages! Thought you said the right side of the lake! THis is the left!"

Jake lost his nerve again. "Sorry," he said. "But on the other hand, you've never been good at directions."

"Oh shut up!" Aurelie snapped, presenting her right hand. "Right." Left hand. "Left. Is it really so hard? And just because I got lost ONCE in Missouri, I'm suddenly so horrible at direction? Gah!" Her eyes brightened. "Who're you taking to the ball? I'm so excited! I might just go with some friends, though."

"Right, right," said Jake distractedly. "About that, how would you like to-" She stared at him with her blue eyes and he lost his nerve again. "eat some apple crisps! Yum-yum!" He produced a bag of them.

"Oh right," Aurelie said, disappointed. She thought he was going to say something else, but alright. "You remembered that they're my favorite."

"Aurie....do you want to go to the ball with me?" he asked.

Aurelie felt herself blush bright red. "Sure!" she squeaked, her voice an octave higher than normal.

Jake was relieved. "Okay. So, um, see you...I guess..."

Aurelie smiled and leaned forward. Kissing him on the cheek, she skipped away.

"Witch," Jake called after her, laughing as he said it.

Now he had to get dress robes.
