We're All Bored (Kay/Jake)

Jake sat down in a cafe, utterly bored to the point of dying. Taking his soda from the waiter, he sipped it, staring out of the window.

Kayleigh walked into the cafe, sitting down at the counter, pushing her hair out of her face. She ordered a raspberry iced tea, she glanced around and saw Jake. She smiled at him, then turned back to her iced tea and sipped it.

Jake saw a girl smile at him. Her name was something starting with a K, at least that's what he thought. "Hey," he said. "Um, sorry. I forgot your name."

Kayleigh looked at him, slightly raising her eyebrows. "Kayleigh." She nodded, looking at him neutrally.

"You go to Pigfarts, right?" Jake asked, slightly unnerved by her cool expression. "I think I've seen you there."

Kayleigh looked at him, slightly raising an eyebrow. "Um, yeah. I do." She nodded, sitting back in her chair.

"I'm in Pyxis. I think you are too...." Jake grinned in an embarassed way. "I'm not that good at remembering things. Sometimes I even forget things that my friend-" here he coughed a little bit, " Aurie tells me, and she tends to lecture me a lot." He smiled sheepishly. "I've just came to Pigfarts though, so that might be part of it."

Kayleigh looked at him and laughed lightly. "Um, yeah." She bit her lip. "Well, I - um, I'm just kind of bipolar. I guess that's what you call it?" She shrugged lightly, raising her eyebrows. "I either like you or I hate you."

Jake grinned. "I know a few people who are like that. So which pole am I on? The like or the hate?"

Kayleigh looked at him with a slightly confused expression, then half her lip turned into a smile. "I haven't quite decided." She folded her arms, looking at him intently.

Jake leaned back, letting her inspect him. "Well, you're on the leaning-towards-like side," he said, grinning. "A bit north."

She had long straight blonde hair and intense hazel eyes, he noted. And was pretty. A little shorter than him, and very.....intense, like her eyes. She seemed to be looking straight through him.

Kayleigh leaned forward, her elbows on the table. "How would you know?" She asked, slightly raising her eyebrows, her expression bold, yet calm.

"Know what?" Jake asked, slightly bemused. "That you're a nice person? That I don't know. You could easily go to the hate pole for me, but you could as easily go to the neutral position. It isn't set in stone."

Kayleigh looked down slightly raising her eyebrows. "It'll stay neutral." She bit her lip and looked up. "Mostly because I'm pretty sure I have strong feelings for you. But they could easily be negative."

Jake raised an eyebrow. "Um...thanks....?"

Kayleigh raised her eyebrows. "Don't question yourself." She said firmly.

"Well, that's nice to hear," he said. "What're you drinking?" Taking another sip of his soda, he craned his neck to see her. "It's kind of weird talking to you from another table...mind if I sat over there?"

(OOC: This ought to satisfy Aurie..)

Kayleigh sat back, "Raspberry Iced Tea." She said softly, with a slight yawn. Her eyes widened slightly as he sat down across from her. She narrowed her eyebrows, "Um. Sure." She said, saying it as if it was a question.

Jake grinned. "Thanks. I feel like I know you from somewhere other than Pigfarts...but maybe I'm just crazy." He smiled. "So, what do you like to do? I like to go outside and swim, but i have no idea what you like to do..."

"Um.." Kayleigh started, laughing softly. "I like swimming too." She nodded slowly. "I'm really into art, and dancing." She folded her arms, sitting back. She looked at his eyes, feeling slightly embaressed, she blushed lightly, then bit her lip, glancing away.

"Art? So you draw, or watercolor? Cool." Jake smiled. "I used to be really into art, but the best I could do were stick figures. And even those were crooked. Do you freestyle in swimming? I like freestyling the best-and having water fights, of course."

Kayleigh narrowed her eyebrows slightly. "Um. Watercolor, pastels, painting, canvas'." She said, smiling slightly. "I love art, and swimming- Well, I'm pretty good, but not as like, a sport. Just for fun." She nodded.

Jake laughed. "Yeah. I have to travel a lot though, but my dad promised that he'll stick to one place until I finish Hogwarts. He can't promise about summertime though."

"Oh?" Kayleigh said, more sounding like a question. She didn't really know how to reply to that, so she just nodded slowly. "I can kinda understand with family issues, my parents pretty much ignore me."

"It's not really an issue...but that's horrible." Jake tilted his head. "Do you not want to talk about it or...."
